Advice for Road Runners: The Nike Men’s Vaporfly 3 Road Racing Shoes are purpose-built to help you achieve personal bests. ZoomX foam and a carbon fibre plate combine to provide incredible energy return.

Underfoot Feel

ZoomX foam is very light and returns a lot of energy. When combined with a carbon fibre plate, the result is a very propulsive underfoot feel. If you ran in previous editions of the Vaporfly, you may be interested to know that ZoomX foam in the Vaporfly 3 is an upgraded version of the responsive foam. 

The outsole rubber is thinner than it was on previous models of Vaporfly. The result is more ZoomX foam sitting underneath your feet.

You may notice that the midsole bulges out at the heel. This helps to provide a more stable platform to run on. Something that can be helpful if you tire on long runs.

Upper Fit

The upper on the Vaporfly 3 is very light and breathable; it also provides some support. This is achieved with the use of specifically selected Flyknit yarns. 

One of the main benefits of the upper’s design is that it conforms to the shape of your foot.

Ideal Run Type

We recommend the Nike Men’s Vaporfly 3 Road Racing Shoes for racing distances from the 10K to the marathon. There may be temptation to use these for training runs. However, we recommend using them selectively for faster sessions and for the purpose of getting used to them. The Vaporfly provides so much spring and energy return, that it’s a good idea to keep them as fresh as possible for race day.

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).

This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
