Advice for Road Runners: The ASICS Men’s Gel-Kayano 30 in the Black/Glow Yellow colourway has gone through some significant updates. With PureGEL cushioning and a 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM, they’ll feel more cushioned and supportive than ever before.
Underfoot Feel
The ASICS Gel-Kayano 30 has three key updates:
- 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM
- FF BLAST PLUS ECO cushioning
- Rearfoot PureGEL Technology
Let’s start with the cushioning. The Gel-Kayano 30 will feel more cushioned than the previous version because PureGEL cushioning is just as absorbent as GEL, but is 65% softer. The midsole stack height in the men’s Gel-Kayano 30 is also 3.5 millimetres thicker than the previous version.
The max stack midsole features FF BLAST PLUS ECO foam. This is an ultra soft and energy returning midsole foam. If you’re wondering, ECO is in the name because it has 24% bio-based content.
The biggest change in the ASICS Gel-Kayano 30 is the 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM. This intuitive support system works with your biomechanics and feels more natural than ever.
To explain further, the width of the heel, midfoot and forefoot are all wider than before. An increased heel bevel smooths out the motion from landing to mid-stance. Stability is also increased due to the difference between the lateral and medial side. Specific shaping of each side of the midsole ensures that the speed of pronation is slowed down, keeping your feet and legs in a better position.
Finally, an energetic medial foam in the medial part of the midfoot resupinates your foot, so it returns to a neutral position for the next foot strike.
Upper Fit
The upper of the ASICS Gel-Kayano 30 has been updated with an engineered knit upper. This also includes an updated knit heel collar construction. You should experience great comfort levels from this fabric, alongside lots of breathability.
Ideal Run Type
The ASICS Men’s Gel-Kayano 30 has gone through extensive testing. Testers report a softer, smoother and more comfortable cushioning experience. In our opinion, this level of cushioning makes long runs feel easier. It also takes the stress off muscles during shorter runs too. Ultimately meaning your legs are likely to feel fresher after runs of all lengths.
ASICS have reported that the 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM provides stability when it’s needed. In fact, it adapts to your body’s shift in posture when you get tired. This means it works particularly well for runners who fatigue as a run goes on. We also know that your biomechanics can vary from day to day. This support will give you more help on the days you need it.
If you’re looking for the most cushioned and supportive stability running shoes, there’s a very good chance these will be a great option. ASICS have definitely delivered a special running shoe to celebrate 30 years of this icon.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
