Advice for Road Runners: The HOKA Women’s Arahi 6 stability running shoes in the Bellweather Blue/Ocean Mist colourway looks amazing. We recommend this level of support for runners who have greater ranges of pronation or leg rotation.
Underfoot Feel
While the HOKA Arahi 6 running shoes may not feel like pillows under your feet, they still feel very padded and protective. If you’re wondering why they’re not really soft, it’s because the midsole features a denser section of foam. This is called J-Frame support. If your feet roll in further, this dynamic support kicks in and reduces the movement.
The Arahi 6 running shoes feel very smooth as you transition from landing to take-off. This is down to the early stage Meta-Rocker technology. In a similar way to how a wheel functions, the midsole rolls your feet forward. Meaning you can forget about your feet and focus on your effort.
Upper Fit
At (approximately) 216 grams, the women’s Arahi 6 is one of the lightest stability running shoes. The lightweight and breathable upper in the Arahi is a key factor in keeping the weight so low.
You should expect a good level of support in the upper and secure midfoot fit. If you’re wondering why the heel collar tapers away, this prevents rubbing at the back of the ankle. It also makes it easier to slip them on and off.
In case you don’t know, HOKA only converts the women’s size from US to UK by one and a half sizes. Most running brands convert it by two full sizes. We recommend choosing your normal US running shoe size.
Ideal Run Type
The HOKA Women’s Arahi 6 are stability running shoes. For this reason, they’re best suited to runners with greater ranges of pronation or leg rotation. If your suffering from knee or hip discomfort, as a result of instability, you’re likely to benefit from the J-Frame support.
We also recommend rocker shaped shoes for runners who get tight calf muscles. As the Arahi 6 rocks your feet forward, they reduce how much the calf muscles have to push off. It’s not all about cushioning in a running shoe, the midsole geometry is very important.
In terms of pace, we suggest running in the Arahi 6 on your slower to steady paced runs. It’s more than cushioned enough for long distances, so is a great marathon training running shoe.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
