Underfoot Feel

The HOKA Gaviota 5 Running Shoes feature a thick layer of cushioning that delivers a lot of underfoot protection. HOKA’s MetaRocker™ technology also helps reduce the load on your working muscles. This is because the curved heel to toe geometry promotes forward movement. 

Even though the midsole is very cushioned, it feels very stable and supportive. A lot of the stability stems from HOKA’s H-Frame™ technology. The H-Frame sits on top of – and interlocks with – the midsole to create a secure base. 

Additionally, the midsole base is very broad – making it inherently stable. As the midsole foam isn’t overly soft, your feet should feel very planted. 

Upper Fit

The HOKA Gaviota 5 Running Shoes offer an accommodating fit in the toe box. You may like to know they offer a wider fit than the HOKA Arahi 7 Stability Running Shoes.

A creel jacquard mesh upper offers great breathability. Most importantly, the material selection in the upper feels extremely plush and comfortable.

Ideal Run Type

The HOKA Men’s Gaviota 5 Running Shoes are a great match for slower paced runs, when your aim is to make the miles feel as comfortable as possible. The high level of cushioning may lack the responsiveness required for steadier paced runs.

As these are stability running shoes, they’re best suited to runners with unstable feel and ankles.

Sizing Advice

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).

This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
