Advice for Road Runners: The latest Altra Men’s Paradigm 7 is much lighter than the last version. As there are minimal changes, previous wearers should be able to transition to the updated model with ease.

Underfoot Feel

The thick layer of cushioning in the Altra Paradigm 7 features EGO MAX foam. This highly resilient and plush cushioning feels great at slower to steady paces.

The ‘Balanced Cushioning’ means there’s no difference in height from the heel to the forefoot.

For extra support, a GuideRail offers some guidance and stability as and when you need it. This means the predominant underfoot sensation is one of softness.

Upper Fit

The main changes to the Altra Paradigm 7 are in the upper. Even though they’re lighter, the heel collar and tongue are both considerably plusher. 

Altra running shoes all have foot shaped toe boxes, but have different fits across models. The Paradigm 7 features Altra’s Standard FootShape Fit. While this isn’t as broad as their Original FootShape Fit, it fits generously in the toe box. 

Ideal Run Type

The Altra Men’s Paradigm 7 running shoes are a great option for runners who are looking for soft feeling stability running shoes. As a result of the plush midsole, we recommend using these for slower paced runs and longer distances.

In our experience, the GuideRail support tends to suit runners who are prone to discomfort at the knee area. That’s because the contoured cushioning is normally very effective at reducing internal knee rotation, a common cause of pain.
