Advice for Road Runners: One of the most trusted stability shoes around, the Gel-Kayano 28 in the Lake/Drive colourway has a few updates to make it lighter and softer for a smoother ride. A highly-supportive stability shoe, the Gel-Kayano delivers maximum impact protection with its Gel cushioning and soft density midsole. The density of the midsole foam has been reduced to make it feel plusher underfoot and the deep flex grooves in the forefoot ensure a smooth rise from heel to toe. ASICS have also added flex grooves to the heel as this helps slow down the speed of pronation on heel strike and slows the rotation of the rest of the leg.
The stability system in the midsole is called Space Trusstic. This is a structure that sits underneath the arch of the foot and adds support. The design has been optimised to be gender specific with the men’s version providing enhanced arch support. The ankle collar design has been optimised for support in an unobtrusive way for premium comfort on long distance runs.
The Gel-Kayano 28 offers the highest level of cushioning and support in a stability shoe and feels great for slower or steady-paced running.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles. Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes). This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
