Advice for Road Runners: The HOKA Men’s Bondi 8 in the Deep Lagoon/Ocean Mist colourway is the most cushioned Hoka neutral running shoe. If you’re looking for maximum protection, these are a great choice.
Underfoot Feel
The thick midsole foam feels soft and light. You’ll probably notice the lines on the sides of the midsole. This billowed effect and extended heel geometry further enhances the sensation of cushioning. If you’re wondering, the HOKA Bondi 8 feels softer and more cushioned than the HOKA Clifton.
HOKA’s signature Meta-Rocker technology means the midsole is curved, like a wheel. This midsole shaping rolls your feet forward and feels very smooth as you run. The Bondi 8 also feels stable, as your feet sit into the midsole. While it’s not visible from the images, the walls of the midsole wrap up around your feet.
Upper Fit
We recommend the HOKA Bondi 8 for runners looking for great comfort levels in the upper. That’s because the Bondi running shoes feature a premium engineered mesh material. Additionally, the partially gusseted tongue feels supportive and adaptive.
As HOKA only converts men’s US to UK sizes by half a size, we recommend choosing your normal US running shoe size.
Ideal Run Type
At Run4It, we suggest using soft and highly cushioned shoes for slower paced runs, recovery miles and long distance runs. As the HOKA men’s Bondi 8 running shoes are extremely cushioned, they’re perfect for these types of runs. You’ll feel like you’re floating.
If you get tight calf muscles when you’re running, you’ll likely benefit from running shoes with a rocker shaped midsole. The maximally cushioned Bondi 8 midsole, combined with its curved midsole, should reduce the stress placed on your lower leg.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
