Advice for Road Runners: Tackle the toughest trails with the iconic HOKA Men’s Speedgoat 5 Running Shoes in the Trellis/Mock Orange colourway. These highly protective and grippy trail running shoes have quickly built up a reputation as being one of the best.
Underfoot Feel
While the HOKA Speedgoat 5 running shoes perform on technical trails, they feel very protective and cushioned underfoot. The CMEVA midsole feels great on hard packed ground. However, it still adapts to uneven terrain. As your feet sit into an Active Foot Frame, you’ll feel supported while negotiating the unbeaten path.
The Speegoat 5 midsole also features a Meta-Rocker – which helps take the load of your calf muscles. To explain further, the curved midsole rolls your feet forward and lowers the amount of work done by the lower legs. This geometry also helps reduce the impact of downhill running.
Feel confident on wet, dry, loose, and hard packed terrain. The extremely durable Vibram Megagrip with Traction Lug outsole delivers supreme grip levels on the widest variety of terrain. Stepped 5 mm lugs increase surface contact area on slippery surfaces.
Upper Fit
The HOKA Speedgoat 5 Trail Running Shoes feature a premium upper design. A double-layered jacquard mesh reduces the chances of rubbing and aids breathability. There’s also an elasticated section across the top of the toe box. If your feet expand over the course of a run, this material stretches to accommodate the change in shape.
Ideal Run Type
We recommend the HOKA Men’s Speedgoat 5 Trail Running Shoes for long distance runs on technical trails. That’s because the outsole delivers excellent grip and the midsole feels very cushioned.
The same qualities make the Speedgoat 5 excellent all-rounders. If you have to cover some sections of road at the start and end of your trail runs, these should easily cope with that.
Finally, if you’re racing an ultra distance event that covers a lot of surfaces, these are likely to be one of the best options.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
