Advice for Road Runners: The HOKA Women’s Bondi 8 is one of our top recommendations for long distance runs and easy miles. We think you’ll agree the Bellweather Blue/Evening Sky colourway looks amazing.
Underfoot Feel
In our experience, the HOKA Women’s Bondi 8 running shoes feel very soft and cushioned. In fact, these are HOKA’s most padded neutral running shoes. They’ll feel softer and more protective than the HOKA Clifton.
You should see that the Bondi 8 midsole is curved from front to back. This is HOKA’s signature Meta-Rocker technology. As it mimics the shape of a wheel, the midsole rolls your feet forward, particularly when you’re getting tired. This also takes the stress of your lower leg area, such as the calf muscles.
Your feet will feel supported in the Bondi. That’s because your feet sit into the midsole. It’s not visible on the images, but the midsole walls wrap up around the sides of your feet.
Upper Fit
If you want to minimise the chances of friction, the HOKA Bondi 8 is a great choice. This is a result of the premium fabrics in the upper. They also have a partially gusseted tongue that feels supportive and secure.
In case you don’t know, HOKA only converts the women’s size from US to UK by one and a half. Most running brands convert it by two full sizes. We recommend choosing your normal US running shoe size.
Ideal Run Type
In case it’s not clear from the description, the HOKA women’s Bondi 8 running shoes are for slow to steady paced runs and long distances. That means they’ll feel great for anything from a short recovery jog to a long marathon training run.
If you get tight calf muscles when you’re running, you’ll likely benefit from running shoes with a rocker shaped midsole. The maximally cushioned Bondi 8 midsole, combined with its curved midsole, should reduce the stress placed on your lower leg.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
