Advice for Road Runners: The Carbon X 2 from HOKA has been updated from the Carbon X to offer an even smoother ride with resilient featherweight foam and an improved supportive fit around the foot that simply feels amazing. Incorporating innovative technology, this high-performance shoe features a specially engineered carbon fibre plate and an aggressive Meta-Rocker, designed to provide an efficient, propulsive ride at fast paces, reducing stress on the lower leg. This is a great show for you if you suffer from tightness in the calf or achilles tendons.
The carbon fibre plate runs from heel through to forefoot delivering a smooth transition through the gait cycle. This design helps to propel the foot quickly and smoothly towards toe-off and is amazing for making faster running feel, easier at any distance. A new extended Meta-Rocker makes the transition from heel to toe even smoother and compliments the softer foam.
The Carbon X 2 features more cushioning between the carbon plate and the foot. This update combined with a new lighter combination of foams above and below the plate allows the Carbon X 2 to feel more forgiving underfoot at slower paces, expertly balancing cushioning with energy return. The wide base provides support and also makes this a great option if you want a stability shoe that is lightweight and responsive for racing.
The glove like fit of the upper shoe has been significantly improved from user feedback, with a refined collar shape and extended tab at the ankle for easy on/off. The ultra lightweight mesh is thin yet supportive and the seam free design eliminates rubbing against the foot for the ultimate comfortable ride.
This is a highly responsive running shoe, ideally designed for tempo runs and races. If you’re after something softer for easier, longer training runs, check out the Clifton 7.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles. Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes). This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
