Advice for Road Runners: The Mizuno Women’s Wave Inspire 20 Running Shoes are the 20th edition of this well-established style of running shoes. These are stability running shoes, designed to offer responsive cushioning.
Underfoot Feel
The majority of the Wave Inspire 20’s midsole consists of Mizuno Enerzy Foam – which provides a lot of cushioning and energy return.
The other significant part of the midsole is the Wave Plate. The Wave Plate has two main purposes: propulsion and support. The shape of the Wave Plate is specifically designed for runners in need of additional stability. The Wave Plate’s shape follows the shape of the foot – with the aim of helping efficient movement through the gait cycle.
It is possible to get protective cushioning and energy return from a midsole. You should not expect the Wave Inspire 20’s midsole to feel bulky, soft or overly plush.
Please note that the midsole design is the same as the one used in the Wave Inspire 19.
Upper Fit
A new upper has been added to the 20th edition of the Mizuno Wave Inspire. This upper has a new jacquard air mesh: designed with the aim of providing comfort and good breathability.
Ideal Run Type
The Mizuno Women’s Wave Inspire 20 Running Shoes are best for road runs at low to moderate speeds. They are somewhat unique in that they offer high quality cushioning and a responsive underfoot feel. They may be particularly well suited to training runs when you want to vary the pace at points during your run.
The Wave Plate’s medial (inner) side is designed to stop the arch from collapsing. Therefore, we only recommend the Wave Inspire 20 for runners seeking support for instability at the medial (inner) side of their feet and ankles.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
