Advice for Trail Runners: The Mizuno Women’s Wave Rider TT in the Blue Depths/Beveled Glass/Vivid Orchid colourway are one of our top recommendations for door-to-trail runs. That’s because they feel protective underfoot and offer great grip wet and dry surfaces.
Underfoot Feel
The outsole on the Mizuno Wave Rider TT increases grip on both wet and dry ground. The outsole lugs also improve traction on light trails, but don’t wear down quickly on road like surfaces.
You should feel well protected by the cushioned midsole. Mizuno’s premium cushioning material, Mizuno Enerzy, is combined with U4ic foam to deliver a padded, yet responsive feel. There’s also a Pebax Wave Plate in the heel to further enhance shock absorption and energy return.
Upper Fit
If you’ve got a broad forefoot, the upper of the Mizuno Wave Rider TT trail running shoes should fit you well. At the same time, the heel collar should lock your ankle into place.
Ideal Run Type
We suggest using the Mizuno Women’s Wave Rider TT for door-to-trail runs. By this, we mean wearing them on a mixture of road and trails. These are an excellent option for forest trails and rolling paths.
If you’re looking for more grip on wet road runs, the Wave Rider TT will also work well. This is down to the grippy rubber that’s very durable. They’re more than cushioned enough for longer road runs.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
