Underfoot Feel

The 1080v12 features New Balance’s plushest feeling foam, Fresh Foam X. By plush, we mean they’ll feel soft and forgiving. However, this midsole material is also very energy returning. This gives you the best of both worlds – protection and propulsion. 

As the midsole has a prominent curve from heel to toe, the transition from landing to toe-off should be very smooth.

Even though the Fresh Foam X foam feels soft, the medial side of the midsole offers more support. Ensuring you feel stable throughout the gait cycle.

Upper Fit

The New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v12 upper is exceptionally high quality. Named Hypoknit, the near seamless upper morphs around the foot and delivers support in the areas it’s needed most. 

In our experience, this style of upper material often reduces the chances of friction and irritation. Particularly if your feet are prone to swelling over the course of a run.

Ideal Run Type

The New Balance Men’s Fresh Foam X 1080v12 should feel great for slower to steady paced runs. We’re saying this because the cushioning should feel very protective. This quality also makes them an excellent choice for longer runs.

If you find yourself tiring towards the end of a long run, it’s likely that the bouncy Fresh Foam X will help you maintain your pace too. 

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).

This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
