Advice for Trail Runners: Nike Women’s Wildhorse 8 Trail Running Shoes in the Obsidian/Volt/Cool Grey/Baltic Blue colourway have been reinvented! Designed for covering long distances on rocky trails and with durability in mind, Nike have introduced some key updates.
Underfoot Feel
The React midsole is nicely responsive but also provides a great blend of cushioning with a stable and supportive feel. It’s also lightweight and extremely durable. The rock plate in the heel section of the midsole adds another level of protection on rough, rocky terrain.
The outsole uses a couple of different rubbers. Firstly, Mitton rubber delivers added traction on slippery surfaces. The heel and toe areas use a more abrasion-resistant rubber or increased durability. The lugs on the outsole also optimise grip on broken, rocky trails.
Upper Fit
The upper includes a midfoot saddle which locks the foot in place within the shoe. This is sure to inspire confidence when dealing with technical trails. Lightweight but durable overlays have been placed in high-wear areas of the upper to deliver long-lasting durability and a secure fit.
Ideal Run Type
Nike Women’s Wildhorse 8 Trail Running Shoes are pretty versatile and suitable for varied terrain. If pushed we’d probably say they’ll perform best on dry, rugged and rocky trails where the superb underfoot protection will really come into its own!
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
Technical Features:
- Drop: 8.8mm
- React foam midsole balances cushioning with protection
- Rock plate in heel increase protection on footstrike
- Different rubber compounds in key areas optimise traction and durability
- Upper uses a midfoot saddle and strategically placed overlays for support and increased longevity
