Advice for Trail Runners: The Salomon Women’s Sense Ride 5 Running Shoes are great for mixed terrain. By mixed terrain, we mean sections of road, woodland paths and rolling trails. Essentially, nothing too muddy. This also means they’re great door-to-trail running shoes.
Underfoot Feel
The Salomon Sense Ride 5 features an Energy Foam midsole. While the cushioning should feel protective on hard surfaces, it should deliver great energy return on softer ground. Ultimately helping you maintain your pace throughout your run.
All Terrain Contagrip® performs on a wide array of surfaces. As the lug depth is 3.5 mm, you should feel confident on hard packed terrain and slightly looser ground. We don’t recommend using this lug depth on soft and muddy ground, as a deeper lug will provide more traction.
Upper Fit
The Salomon Sense Ride 5 upper features a 3D engineered mesh and SensiFit. This means it should feel supportive and breathable.
Salomon’s signature Quicklace® system ensures pressure is evenly distributed across the top of your feet. The simple toggle system also makes it easy to fasten or loosen the laces when your hands are wet and cold.
Ideal Run Type
We recommend wearing the Salomon Women’s Sense Ride 5 Running Shoes when you’re covering a range of hard-packed surfaces. Particularly if the ground could be both dry and wet. This could be parks, rocky trails and forest paths.
As a result of the protective cushioning, you should feel comfortable getting to and from the trails on road-like surfaces. This quality also means they’re suitable for longer runs, such as ultra distance events.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
