Advice for Road Runners: Aiming to hit faster times in your key workouts? The Saucony Women’s Endorphin Speed 3 running shoes in the Ink/Silver colourway are up for the task. By key workouts, we mean your speed based sessions, such as intervals, tempo efforts and Fartlek runs.
Underfoot Feel
More propulsion doesn’t mean you have to compromise on comfort. The Endorphin Speed 3 features Saucony’s PWRRUN PB foam. This ultra energetic cushioning also feels protective and forgiving.
A winged nylon plate further enhances energy return and propulsion. Saucony opted for a nylon plate as it delivers a more flexible underfoot experience than carbon fibre. The ‘winged’ element refers to small rises on the sides of the plate. This improves support and stability.
Maintaining your pace throughout challenging workouts is always tough. However, Saucony’s SPEEDROLL technology rolls your feet forward and makes it easier to keep going.
Upper Fit
While a lot of plated running shoes feature significantly stripped backed uppers, the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 breaks the mould. Yes, the upper is light and breathable. However, Saucony’s FORMFIT technology ensures your feet feel contained and supported.
Ideal Run Type
We’ve made a lot of references about how well suited the Saucony Women’s Endorphin Speed 3 are for fast-paced training. For clarity, these would also make great racing shoes. It’s just that carbon fibre plated running shoes are likely to give you an even greater advantage on race day.
The Endorphin Speed 3 should also be more durable than their all out race-day counterparts. Meaning they’ll cope better with the demands of weekly sessions in the build up to an event.
If you run in stability running shoes, the ‘winged’ plated construction in these may be better for you than other plated options.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone’s feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb’s width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
